Sola wood comes from Aeschynomene aspera, more commonly known as the Shola plant. It’s a shrub type plant that grows approximately 2 meters tall, thriving in swampy environments in Eastern Asia (China, Japan, India, Myanmar, Malaysia, Philippines).
Sola wood is considered to be one of the lightest woods in the world. It feels almost foam like, very similar to Balsa wood.
Every sola petal and flower is created by hand by either Gib’s Creek staff or trusted suppliers. These “delicately hardy” flowers often contain naturally occurring visible woodgrain, bark, or knots which add a unique character to the flowers.
Sola wood is a natural product and needs air circulation to breathe. Storing sola flowers in air tight containers or high moisture areas is highly discouraged as doing so can ruin the shape and integrity of the flowers and invite mold. (Eeew!) Keep sola flowers out of direct sunlight for long periods of time to maintain the color of your flowers. Occasional dusting is encouraged. To do so, you can use an air spray can or even a hairdryer set to cool on the lowest fan setting.
For custom home décor orders, yes, a 50% non-refundable deposit is required. This 50% deposit will be applied to your final total. The final total will be due in full prior to delivery of arrangements.
For party or wedding orders, yes, a 50% non-refundable deposit is required. This 50% deposit will be applied to your final total. The final total will be due in full 30 days prior to your wedding date.
Please keep in mind that the majority of Gib's Creek business consists of custom orders which can take longer to produce.
For home décor/non-wedding or party arrangements, we ask that you allow 4-5 weeks for turn around. An estimated delivery date will be discussed at the time of your order placement.
For weddings/parties, we ask that you allow a minimum of 4-6 months prior to your wedding date for delivery. A rush fee of 25% of the order total will automatically be added to any wedding orders received within 6 weeks of wedding date.
For home décor/non-wedding or party arrangements, you will have an opportunity to discuss your project vision in depth with Gib's Creek staff. From there, you will have 72 hours from the time your order is placed to make adjustments. You will be provided proofs prior to arrangement delivery and you are able to make one minor adjustment at that time.
For weddings/parties, you will have an opportunity to discuss your project vision in depth with Gib's Creek staff. From there, you will have up to 3 months prior to wedding/party date to make changes to your order. Once proofs are delivered, you will have a maximum of two opportunities to make minor adjustments to your order at the discretion of Gib's Creek Staff.
